Hi, I read the message Help overheating caravan. It's a similar problem but not quite the same thing. I have a 92 Dodge Caravan with the 3.3L engine. Yesterday, I noticed that it was overheating. So I checked the possible componets. I found out that the cooling fan wasn't working. I took it out and found out that it had shorted-out and it was burnt inside. I bought a replacement at Auto Zone for like $70 and put it in. Well, it still doesn't turn on and the temp. climbs. I turned on the A/C to see if it would work and neither the A/C cooling fan nor the radiator fan work. Another thing I noticed is that before this incident, the A/C compressor used to turn on and now it doesn't. I was thinking if maybe it was the short circuit that caused everything. Maybe it blew out a relay or fuse. Or maybe even the ECM. What do you guys think. Another thing, the fan does work because when I hooked it up directly to the battery it started. Any help would be greatly appreciated. -Saul

Most likely you burned the fusible _link_. Check the wiring diagram, the _link_ is the wire that goes from the fan relay to the battery. Once you have replaced/repair that, you should be fine. And yes, the fusible _link_ was supposed to burn.

Well, it still doesn't turn on and the temp. climbs. I turned on the A/C to see if it would work and neither the A/C cooling fan nor the radiator fan work. You blew the fusable _link_ that's located in the bundle on the driver's side. You'll have to separate the wires and look for a section that looks like it got hot. This is exactly what happened to me. I noticed that the AC quit then the engine started overheating. Once I replaced the fan it still wouldn't work but when I replaced the _link_ both worked just fine. I don't know why they didn't just put a simple fuse in there. Glenn

Lucky you. So far I know that there is an intermittent connection inside my fan and Auto Zone doesn't sell the fan for the 93. I will have to go and buy a new one at the dealer but first I want to make sure that I have my Vaseline. I can only assume that if you paid $70 at Auto Zone Dodge will want close to $300.
